Technical Artist – Environment Tool

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and maintain pipeline tools for environment and technical artists, enhancing the asset creation, integration, and validation processes.

• Work closely with engineers, environment artists, and design teams to assess requirements and convert them into effective technical solutions.

• Aid in the enhancement of artistic workflows and processes, ensuring they are consistent, scalable, and user-friendly for the team.

• Engage in profiling and performance optimization, focusing on materials, shaders, and scene organization within Unreal Engine.

• Assist in content integration by supporting artists in troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges during daily production.

• Create documentation for tools and workflows, ensuring that new features are well-explained and accessible to all team members.

• Develop prototypes for new concepts that improve efficiency, creative flexibility, or visual quality.

• Participate in technical reviews and planning sessions, offering feedback and insights on process bottlenecks and opportunities for enhancement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience as a technical artist in game development, specifically utilizing Unreal Engine.

• Proficiency in C++ for Unreal Engine or advanced Unreal Blueprint scripting for tool development or automation purposes.

• Comprehensive understanding of game asset pipelines, encompassing modeling, texturing, materials, and level integration.

• Capability to reconcile artistic requirements with technical limitations to ensure assets meet both aesthetic and performance standards.

• Strong collaborative problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills across various disciplines.

• Curious, proactive, and eager to learn from fellow technical artists and engineers to broaden your technical and creative expertise.

• Demonstrated initiative: you recognize areas that need improvement and develop the necessary tools or workflows to address them.
