Tech Lead, Transaction Monitoring

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and develop the current global engineering team focused on Transaction Monitoring.

• Take responsibility for sprint delivery, code quality, and overall on-call health.

• Oversee the implementation of the off-chain Transaction Monitoring detection suite.

• Drive the advancement of on-chain Transaction Monitoring, which includes monitoring at the wallet level and protocol level.

• Construct and maintain the data pipelines that support on-chain monitoring.

• Create and defend both high-level and low-level designs, covering system architecture, data models, detection logic, and threshold/tuning frameworks.

• Collaborate with the Global Product team on the on-chain roadmap.

• Convert regulatory and customer requirements into actionable engineering plans.

• Shape reusable architecture and shared engineering resources for both Transaction Monitoring and Trade Surveillance.

• Work in partnership with compliance, customer success, and solutions teams to enhance alert quality, reduce false positives, and address client tuning requests.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in backend engineering.

• At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or tech-lead role.

• Strong knowledge of the financial ecosystem, which includes fintech, payments, banking, or cryptocurrency.

• Solid grasp of financial crime and compliance concepts.

• Strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms.

• Proven track record of writing high-performance concurrent code.

• Experience in reviewing pull requests and debugging production systems.

• Demonstrated design ownership at both the architectural and detailed implementation levels.

• Familiarity with high-throughput, low-latency data systems.

• Experience with streaming technologies like Kafka or similar platforms.

• Background in analytical data stores such as ClickHouse, Snowflake, or similar technologies.

• Experience in distributed batch processing.

• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally with non-engineering stakeholders.

• Experience with AI coding and utilizing coding harnesses.

• Knowledge of on-chain/blockchain data, chain indexing, wallet clustering, and DeFi protocol mechanics.

• Exposure to trade surveillance or market abuse detection.

• Experience working at a RegTech vendor or in a compliance technology role within a bank or exchange.
