Tech Lead, Tetra Apps Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the technical architecture for the Tetra Apps platform, encompassing application development, packaging, provisioning, routing, authentication, isolation, observability, upgrades, and retirement.

• Design and enhance the app proxy and routing layer, manage container provisioning and lifecycle on ECS, create per-app identities, and oversee installation, upgrades, and rollback processes across multi-tenant cloud and customer-hosted environments.

• Establish security measures for tenant and per-user data boundaries, delegated authorization, secrets management, browser security, and server-side approval and installation gates.

• Conduct threat modeling for a platform capable of executing external code, including agents.

• Ensure production readiness through metrics, tracing, SLIs, SLOs, alerting, incident runbooks, capacity planning, and cost management.

• Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams on infrastructure-as-code and multi-tenant deployment initiatives.

• Manage templates, TypeScript and Python SDKs, CLI, local development loop, and builder documentation.

• Facilitate sprint and quarterly planning with the product manager; scope, estimate, sequence, and oversee commitments.

• Make maintenance and technical debt reduction visible and lead discussions on ROI.

• Lead design reviews, draft architecture RFCs and decision records, represent the platform in weekly architecture reviews, and enhance engineering quality through review and pairing.

• Develop code and components across TypeScript/Node.js services, React web applications, AWS architecture, client SDKs, and IaC/CI/CD automation.

• Assist field engineers and customers in building and troubleshooting applications within their environments, translating findings into platform enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience, including a role as a technical lead or architect of a platform utilized by external teams.

• Experience in shipping and operating a multi-tenant application platform, app hosting/runtime environment, PaaS, plugin or extension system, or internal developer platform in production with external users.

• Extensive hands-on experience with containers: Docker image pipelines, ECS or similar task and service definitions, networking, service discovery, scaling, and cost management.

• Proficient in security engineering as a primary skill: IAM and least privilege, identity propagation, tenant isolation, browser security, secret management. Proven track record in securing multi-tenant systems capable of running untrusted code.

• Ability to adapt to the advancements in AI within software development and apply AI effectively while ensuring correctness, security, and architectural alignment.

• Strong production experience with AWS services: ECS, ALB/NLB, VPC, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, S3, Lambda.

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code using CloudFormation or a similar tool.

• Full-stack expertise: advanced TypeScript/Node.js for backend services and APIs; solid knowledge of React, ideally with experience in module federation or micro-frontends; competent in Python for SDKs and tooling.

• Proven experience in API-first design: REST and OpenAPI, versioning, backward compatibility, and clear error contracts.

• Observability expertise: OpenTelemetry, SLI/SLO definition, and distributed tracing.

• Experience leading sprint and quarterly planning, writing design documents and migration plans, and holding engineers accountable for commitments through influence and authority.

• Proven ability to operate, extend, and improve complex live production systems while maintaining customer satisfaction.
