Tech Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Foster a culture of distributed technical ownership and decision-making.

• Promote the use of Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) for major decisions.

• Ensure that decisions take into account trade-offs, risks, and existing architectural standards.

• Inspire engineers to take charge of technical design while offering guidance and constructive challenges.

• Advocate for engineering best practices in areas such as design, development, testing, security, observability, performance, and reliability.

• Maintain visibility and active management of technical debt and architectural risks.

• Remain closely engaged with the code and systems owned by the team.

• Directly contribute to complex, high-risk, or strategically significant projects.

• Take part in technical design and code reviews.

• Collaborate with engineers on challenging issues and provide technical leadership during production incidents.

• Manage, mentor, and develop engineers directly.

• Establish expectations related to quality, ownership, and performance.

• Offer regular feedback and support for career development.

• Enhance engineers' capabilities to independently manage technical design and decisions.

• Engage in hiring, onboarding, and performance management processes.

• Collaborate with Product teams to transform priorities into technically sound strategies.

• Guarantee that complex tasks receive appropriate technical exploration and design prior to development.

• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and complexities at an early stage.

• Balance project delivery with considerations for technical debt, reliability, and long-term platform sustainability.

• Take ownership of the engineering execution and technical results produced by the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience at a senior level.

• Over 7 years of experience in building and operating production SaaS applications.

• More than 5 years of experience working with Java and Spring Boot.

• Familiarity with Angular and Single Page Application (SPA) development.

• Experience with containers and cloud-native application methodologies.

• Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, and contemporary software delivery practices.

• Experience with a DevOps approach, including responsibility for deployment, observability, reliability, and production support.

• Comprehensive knowledge of software architecture, APIs, data modeling, performance, scalability, and security.

• Proven track record of leading technical decisions and mentoring engineers.

• Authorization to work in the United States is required.
