This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Act as a reliable advisor to the executive leadership team regarding organizational design, workforce planning, and people strategy, converting business objectives into scalable HR initiatives that establish Canopy as an employer of choice.
• Develop and drive the comprehensive HR roadmap (including performance management, career development, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness), ensuring programs grow alongside the business and align with leadership priorities.
• Manage the HRIS and reporting infrastructure, providing workforce analytics and insights that support executive decision-making on headcount, retention, and organizational planning.
• Collaborate with an external recruiting firm to guarantee a seamless and engaging candidate experience from the offer stage through onboarding, while overseeing performance management, development, and offboarding processes.
• Stay informed on employment law changes in the US, UK, and Canada, proactively identifying compliance risks and working with external counsel to interpret regulations, resolve complex issues, and guide policy development across all jurisdictions.
• Work with brokers on health benefits plan design and open enrollment, while managing the overall total rewards portfolio to ensure offerings are competitive and compliant across all regions where Canopy operates.
• Provide expert advice to leadership on complex employee relations issues, lead investigations, and create solutions that balance business requirements with legal and cultural considerations.
• Collaborate with Finance and Accounting to ensure payroll accuracy and employment-related processes, while acting as a trusted HR advisor to senior leaders across the business to align on organizational priorities and workforce needs.
• Lead and mentor a small team that promotes employee engagement, onboarding experiences, and culture-building initiatives across a distributed workforce.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
• 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience in a strategic HRBP or generalist role supporting senior/executive leadership.
• Proven experience managing or advising on international employment issues, particularly UK and Canada employment law.
• Experience in managing direct reports and building high-performing teams.
• Experience collaborating with external recruiting/staffing agencies to oversee full-cycle hiring processes.
• Executive presence with the capability to advise and influence at the leadership/C-suite level.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to convert strategic priorities into actionable HR initiatives.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly build rapport across all organizational levels.
• Equally tactical and strategic, comfortable engaging in hands-on work while advising executives on long-term people strategy.
• Previous experience working within an HCM system.
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Robust working knowledge of US, UK, and Canada employment law.
