Team Lead – Remote Operations Center

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee and assist a team of ROC Controllers to guarantee the safe, dependable, and compliant daily operations of renewable generation assets, serving as the primary escalation point for complex or unusual incidents.

• Manage high-risk, non-routine operational situations independently, requiring expert knowledge of renewable generation, grid reliability, and control room functions.

• Organize and prioritize real-time controller tasks to effectively address alarms, outages, grid directives, and weather-related events.

• Ensure rigorous compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corp (NERC) reliability standards, Independent System Operators / Regional Transmission Organizations (ISO/RTO) requirements, and internal protocols, which include documentation, communication, and event reporting.

• Clearly communicate intricate operational updates to internal stakeholders, site teams, and external grid operators, particularly during critical or time-sensitive events.

• Participate in the creation and ongoing enhancement of control room procedures, tools, and operational best practices.


⛳️ Requirements

• A technical professional holding a degree or diploma (or equivalent experience) in engineering, business, or a related discipline.

• Proven experience in a 24/7 control room or renewable operations setting, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar operational capacity.

• Extensive knowledge of power generation, transmission/distribution systems, renewable technologies, and grid operations.

• Proficient in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, alarm management, data acquisition, and performance monitoring tools utilized in power generation environments.

• Comfortable working in highly regulated settings, possessing a solid understanding of NERC standards, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) market regulations, and compliance obligations.

• An effective communicator and problem-solver capable of leading through complex operational situations and collaborating with technical and cross-functional teams.
