Team Lead, Institutional Retirement Sales

📋 Description

• Provide guidance and strategic direction to achieve results for a team of Retirement Sales Consultants supporting the Institutional Retirement Distribution (IRD) sales.

• Inspire and lead the team by establishing priorities and initiatives to enhance our full-service Defined Contribution and Stable Value Investment Only product offerings, ultimately driving an increase in sales revenue and market share within the Institutional Retirement Plan sector.

• Collaborate with retirement plan consultants, plan sponsors, and internal teams to present optimal offerings that identify and create new business opportunities.

• Work in conjunction with IRD leadership in both Sales and Consultant Relations to implement key deliverables, initiatives, and support strategic decision-making processes.

• Oversee core team responsibilities to elevate standards and improve the customer experience for both internal and external stakeholders.

• Serve as a knowledgeable resource on DC and SVIO products and industry-related data for both external and internal stakeholders.

• Cultivate and sustain robust business relationships with key sales clients to achieve or surpass set sales goals, quotas, targets, or objectives.

• Ensure the accurate processing of all sold products from the point of sale to issuance.

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of LFG's products, services, and operational framework to enhance the ability to identify and target sales growth opportunities.

• Identify potential advisors/consultants and proactively reach out to prospective plan sponsors and intermediaries to generate RFPs and/or set appointments.

• Manage the sales cycle (including but not limited to generating proposals, preparing for finalist presentations, and resolving outstanding issues/questions), which typically spans 6-12 months.

• Provide training and development opportunities, including stretch assignments, for team members and offer honest and constructive feedback to foster talent development.

• Assess and evaluate individual/team performance, taking appropriate actions to meet or exceed performance expectations.

• Establish and implement priorities, performance goals, and objectives to ensure group success.

• Lead and supervise the assigned internal sales team and complex sales activities that contribute to revenue growth and increased market share.


⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in financial services sales and/or relationship management that aligns with the responsibilities of this role.

• 3+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience.

• Strong working knowledge of the retirement plan sales process.

• FINRA S6 and S63 certifications will be required within 90 days of hire.

• Life & Health certification will be required within 120 days of hire.

• Confident and comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Proven strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g., senior management, peers, and colleagues); ability to develop creative and collaborative solutions.

• Capable of finding common ground and fostering collaboration among senior management, colleagues, and peers; can influence outcomes without direct commands.
