This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +4 more states.
• Lead and expand a high-performing team of Category Managers, acting as a "Manager of Leaders" to establish the long-term vision for Waymo’s external workforce and services ecosystem across Engineering, Ops, and Corporate functions.
• Collaborate with the Vendor Enablement Office and executive stakeholders (Engineering, Marketing, Safety, Ops) to develop global outsourcing strategies for essential functions such as Mapping, Labeling, and Hardware. You will drive alignment on a portfolio exceeding $100M, transitioning from transactional vendor engagement to strategic capability enhancement.
• Foster high-level relationships with key leaders in the BPO and Engineering Services sectors. You will connect Waymo’s internal requirements with external market capabilities, forming deep partnerships that facilitate innovation and provide preferential access to talent.
• Direct the category strategy and transformation roadmap for Waymo’s essential operations, ensuring resilience, scalability, and cost optimization to support rapid market growth.
• Design complex, tailored commercial agreements for Hardware Engineering Services and technical outsourcing, implementing outcome-based models that share risks and rewards with strategic partners.
• Manage the governance framework for Third-Party Risk in the services sector, guaranteeing IP protection and data security compliance across a global supplier network.
• Over 12 years of strategic procurement or supply chain experience, with a minimum of 5 years leading high-performance teams in complex, fast-paced environments.
• Executive Presence: A proven ability to influence Director-level and higher stakeholders, with the capability to challenge the status quo and drive organizational transformation at the highest levels.
• Complex Outsourcing Expertise: Extensive experience in structuring global BPO/Engineering Services agreements, including "Lift and Shift" transitions, captive center establishments, or large-scale managed service implementations.
• Holistic Category Leadership: Proficiency in managing a diverse portfolio that encompasses both highly technical (Engineering/Hardware) and subjective (Marketing/Consulting) categories.
• Contracting Mastery: In-depth knowledge of complex Master Services Agreements (MSAs), including IP ownership, liability limitations, and global labor compliance.
• Strategic Vision: Capacity to envision supply chain needs 3-5 years in advance, designing a supply base that supports exponential business growth, rather than merely addressing current requirements.
