Tax Preparer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Prepare individual federal and state income tax returns.

• Gather, assess, and arrange tax documents provided by clients.

• Accurately input tax data into professional tax software.

• Review completed returns for precision and thoroughness prior to filing.

• Communicate with clients regarding any missing or additional documentation.

• Clarify the tax preparation process and solicit any necessary information.

• Maintain orderly and precise client records.

• Safeguard confidential taxpayer and financial information.

• Adhere to IRS regulations, company policies, and due diligence standards.

• Complete necessary training, compliance obligations, and ongoing education.

• Provide outstanding customer service and foster enduring client relationships.

• Meet established deadlines throughout the tax season.

• Promote tax preparation services and expand the client base through networking, referrals, and community outreach.

• Develop a book of business through long-standing relationships with returning clients.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational abilities.

• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

• Comfortable working autonomously in a remote setting.

• Basic computer skills.

• Ability to manage confidential financial information with care.

• Previous experience in tax preparation or financial services is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Must possess an active IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) or be willing to obtain one prior to preparing tax returns.

• Must successfully finish required tax preparation training before handling client returns.
