Tax Director – SALT, Financial Services

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as a SALT subject matter expert for clients in the financial services sector, which includes asset managers, banks, insurance companies, private credit, fintech, and other financial institutions.

• Lead SALT compliance and consulting projects that address intricate multistate tax challenges specific to financial services organizations, such as state and local income tax compliance reviews, income sourcing, apportionment, and nexus considerations.

• Offer guidance to clients regarding the state tax implications of financial products, services, and revenue streams, including fee-based income, investment structures, and intercompany transactions.

• Provide technical advice on state income/franchise, sales/use, and other indirect tax issues affecting financial entities, including evolving regulatory and compliance expectations.

• Assist clients in understanding state tax considerations related to emerging financial models, such as fintech platforms, digital payments, and alternative investment structures.

• Conduct nexus and filing footprint analyses for multistate and heavily regulated financial services organizations operating across different jurisdictions.

• Support audit defense, controversy issues, and voluntary disclosures pertinent to financial services and institutional clients.

• Keep track of and communicate developments in state taxation that impact financial institutions, translating those changes into actionable guidance for clients.

• Collaborate with firm leadership to enhance CBIZ’s SALT footprint in the financial services sector, including identifying new service offerings and market opportunities.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree is required.

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in public accounting or a related field.

• At least 6 years of supervisory experience is necessary.

• Must possess an active CPA or equivalent certification.

• Capable of managing deadlines, working on multiple tasks, and prioritizing assignments as needed.

• Proficiency in relevant technology is required.

• Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.

• Demonstrated high level of business integrity, client service, and leadership abilities.

• Willingness to travel as required by client and business needs.
