
Tax Accountant – Corporate, VAT

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Prepare and assess UK Corporation Tax returns (CT600) and computations, including iXBRL tagging, ensuring timely submission to HMRC.
• Address capital allowances, tax adjustments, loss and group relief, as well as R&D claims when applicable.
• Oversee Corporation Tax payment deadlines, including Quarterly Instalment Payments.
• Prepare and review VAT returns in compliance with Making Tax Digital guidelines and submit them to HMRC on time.
• Handle VAT registrations, de-registrations, schemes, treatments, and matters involving cross-border transactions.
• Manage VAT deadlines, payments, and reconciliations for the client portfolio.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP, alongside management accounts.
• Assist with Companies House filings and maintain statutory records.
• Provide technical tax insights to sales, including requirement scoping, effort estimation, proposals, and pricing.
• Represent the tax function in meetings with clients and potential clients.
• Identify opportunities to expand GoGlobal services within the client portfolio.
• Contribute to service documentation, scoping templates, and UK tax guidance.
• Manage designated client relationships and offer practical UK tax and accounting advice.
• Address client inquiries and convey technical matters in a clear manner.
• Oversee HMRC correspondence, agent authorisations, enquiries, and filing schedules.
• Implement four-eyes reviews, internal controls, data protection standards, and anti-money laundering requirements.
• Ensure accurate and timely filings for Corporation Tax, VAT, and statutory accounts.
• Qualified in UK corporate tax and VAT: ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians), or possess equivalent experience in corporate tax and VAT compliance.
• CTA qualification is desirable, particularly for the Senior role.
• Junior candidates may be ATT-qualified or part-qualified and engaged in studies.
• Must comply with fit-and-proper standards and adhere to HMRC’s Standard for Agents.
• Practical working knowledge of UK Corporation Tax, including CT600, computations, and iXBRL.
• Practical working knowledge of VAT, particularly regarding Making Tax Digital (MTD).
• Understanding of UK GAAP, including FRS 102 and FRS 105.
• Familiarity with HMRC online services, Making Tax Digital, and Companies House filings.
• Proficiency in tax and accounting software such as Alphatax, Digita, CCH, TaxCalc, Xero, or Sage.
• Commercial awareness and a client-oriented demeanor.
• Strong command of written and spoken English.
• Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
• Experience managing a client portfolio is preferred.
• Exposure to payroll and PAYE, R&D relief, or cross-border and international tax is preferred.
• Experience with proposals, pricing, business development, or cloud accounting software like Xero is preferred.
