This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico.
• Prepare and submit federal and state tax returns for real estate holding companies and associated entities.
• Prepare tax returns related to rental properties, real estate investments, and property holding entities.
• Review financial statements, property records, and relevant documentation to ensure accurate tax preparation.
• Verify that tax returns are thorough, precise, and submitted within the required deadlines.
• Examine prior year returns and associated workpapers to uncover pertinent information and possible tax issues.
• Collaborate with internal teams to gather any missing financial and property-level details.
• Maintain well-organized tax workpapers and documentation supporting all submissions.
• Implement the correct depreciation treatment for rental properties and real estate assets, including accelerated depreciation and cost segregation studies.
• Recognize tax treatment considerations specific to real estate and support valid tax planning opportunities.
• Keep updated on changes in U.S. tax regulations that impact real estate investors and property holding entities.
• Work closely with accounting, operations, and leadership teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of tax information.
• Identify discrepancies, missing documentation, or potential tax risks prior to filing.
• Valid CPA license or an equivalent professional accounting credential.
• Extensive experience in preparing and filing U.S. tax returns.
• Direct experience with U.S. taxation for real estate holding companies and rental properties.
• Strong knowledge of depreciation and its application to real estate assets.
• Practical experience with accelerated depreciation and/or cost segregation.
• In-depth understanding of U.S. real estate tax strategies and compliance requirements.
• Capability to independently manage tax preparation duties with a keen eye for detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficient in written and spoken English (C1 or C2).
• Availability to work U.S. business hours with overlap across U.S. time zones.
• Experience with U.S.-based real estate investment, property management, or accounting organizations (preferred).
• Experience preparing returns for multiple real estate holding companies or investment entities (preferred).
• Familiarity with U.S. tax preparation and accounting software (preferred).
• Experience working with real estate investors, property owners, or investment funds (preferred).
• Experience in tax planning in addition to tax compliance and preparation (preferred).
