This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, oversees and directs the Maintenance staff as requested by the General Manager.
• Leads a team responsible for maintaining buildings and grounds, which includes renovations, expansions, and improvements.
• Management-level associates are expected to dedicate sufficient time during their workday to fulfill their job responsibilities; for OEM associates, overtime is applicable and calculated accordingly.
• Maintain, coordinate, and monitor preventive maintenance programs for all building equipment and guest rooms.
• Support General Managers with all aspects of Capital Improvement Projects, including budgeting, forecasting, bidding, and selection of potential contractors.
• Approve Project Approval Requests for assigned properties.
• Conduct audits and inspections of assigned facilities as necessary, in coordination with Operations management.
• Manage third-party vendors and national account partners as required, establishing clear expectations and accountability.
• Develop, recommend, and oversee the operation, policies, procedures, plans, and programs of the Engineering Department.
• Proactively track Capital & Operations projects, asset inventory, and contracts.
• Engage in the development and rollout of Standard Operating Procedures.
• Review potential new systems, equipment, and programs, and recommend them for use to senior management and business unit partners.
• Actively participate and represent the Engineering team in renovation projects and transitions of new properties, including conducting punch walks before inventory is handed over to the operations team.
• Analyze accounting records and data related to operating costs and variance reports.
• Proven track record of providing exceptional support to colleagues, clients, customers, and/or guests.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments while enforcing the hotel’s standard policies, procedures, and programs.
• Capability to respond swiftly and develop solutions for common inquiries, complaints, and urgent issues, handling a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization.
• Proficient in clearly presenting action plans and updates to senior management and ownership representatives regarding key projects and urgent matters.
• Experience in managing third-party vendors, establishing partnerships when necessary, and setting clear expectations and accountability.
• Working knowledge of life/safety systems, plumbing codes, electrical codes, national/local fire codes, local mechanical codes, water treatment programs, and blueprints/schematics.
• Demonstrable expertise in analysis and decision-making.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Appropriate professional appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Competence in applying concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Familiarity and experience with large building facility systems (e.g., central plants, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, water systems, generators, etc.).
• Familiarity and experience with hotel and building systems (e.g., Transcendent, ALICE, INNCOM, Verdant, Saflok, HVAC BMS, etc.).
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in a Technical Field or Engineering preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent vocational training acceptable based on work experience, with a minimum of 7 years of direct experience in the maintenance of mechanical, life/safety, electrical, and plumbing operations of hotels or commercial buildings, along with 5 years of supervisory experience.
