This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and implement Building Automation Systems Engineering Solutions (70%)
• Oversee designs for DDC and PLC-based building automation and electrical power monitoring systems
• Develop controls network/system architecture that includes IT/OT requirements
• Choose instrumentation, sensors, actuators, valves, and other field devices
• Collaborate with equipment, system, and product vendors to define building automation interface requirements
• Generate and review project book and sheet specifications
• Create and assess sequence of operations
• Develop and examine system diagrams and point/alarm lists
• Work closely with client IT departments to ensure systems are safe and secure, adhering to best practices
• Provide guidance on engineering production aspects using internal and external Revit/BIM resources
• Manage construction-related processes, deliverables, and submissions (15%)
• Responsible for design document deliverables across design phases including Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), Issue For Permit (IFP), and Issue For Construction (IFC)
• Oversee planning and execution of Construction Administration (CA) phase activities, both remotely and on-site
• Lead design reviews focused on building automation and conduct page turns
• Engage in internal and external quality control and peer reviews
• Review and respond to RFIs
• Evaluate shop drawings and submittals
• Complete punch lists and project closeout documents
• Facilitate internal and external project meeting discussions regarding engineering scope
• Handle reporting and communication (10%)
• Oversee project communication and reporting
• Prepare project progress reports for both internal and external stakeholders
• Manage personal hours utilizing company tools
• Utilize technology, digital tools, and AI-enabled efficiency (5%)
• Apply AI-enabled and digital tools to boost efficiency, minimize manual work, and maintain high-quality output.
• Seek opportunities for process improvement and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning by exploring new technologies, skills, and methods that enhance individual and team performance.
• Adapt to new technologies and changing digital workflows, actively promoting the integration and adoption of innovative tools across the organization.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, or a related field OR two years of experience with hands-on installation, testing, validation, and troubleshooting of controls infrastructure PLUS a minimum of five years of additional experience as a project lead for BAS/EPMS designs for a systems integrator or AE consultant
• Proficient in using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with strong organizational skills for file management
• Familiarity with Revit
• Capable of completing tasks accurately and with great attention to detail
• Understanding of IoT and smart building solutions
• Knowledge of Networking, including Addressing, VLANs, LANs, Switches, and Routers
• Awareness of open-source protocols (BACnet, Modbus, and SNMP)
• Familiarity with DDC systems like Distech, Honeywell, and Tridium Niagara
• Knowledge of PLC systems such as Schneider Electric and Allen Bradley
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Ability to utilize AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, improve operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation
• Capacity to work effectively in a remote setting through strong communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness, and resourcefulness in a distraction-free environment
• Capability to adhere to company and site safety requirements
• Proficient in analyzing and preparing documents, reports, and correspondence
• Effective oral and written communication skills (both technical and non-technical)
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and occasionally act as the primary point of contact
• Proven ability to work successfully as part of a team as well as independently with moderate supervision
• Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Competence in planning and delegating tasks to others
• Ability to mentor and train junior engineers
