
Systems Engineer III – Design

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
• Assist in the creation of engineering documents for Building Automation Systems (70%)
• Aid in the design of DDC and PLC-based building automation and electrical power monitoring systems for various projects
• Contribute to the design of controls network/system architecture, encompassing IT and OT requirements
• Assist in the selection of instrumentation, sensors, actuators, valves, and other field devices
• Help in the development and review of project book and sheet specifications
• Support the creation and review of sequence of operations
• Assist in the creation and review of system diagrams and points/alarm lists
• Collaborate with client IT departments to ensure systems are safe and secure, adhering to best practices
• Utilize Revit software to produce drawings and visual aids
• Engage in planning and execution of Construction Administration (CA) phase activities both remotely and on-site
• Participate in design reviews and page turns focused on building automation
• Take part in internal and external quality control and peer reviews
• Review and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs)
• Examine shop drawings and submittals
• Review and finalize punch lists and project close-out documents
• Contribute to project communication and reporting
• Prepare project progress reports for both internal and external stakeholders
• Manage personal hours using company tools
• Familiarity with designing building automation and electrical power monitoring systems
• Understanding of IoT or smart building solutions
• Proficiency in Revit
• Knowledge of Networking concepts including Addressing, VLANs, LANs, Switches, and Routers
• Familiarity with open-source protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and SNMP
• Knowledge of DDC systems including Distech, Honeywell, and Tridium Niagara
• Understanding of PLC systems, including Schneider Electric and Allen Bradley
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), with exceptional organizational skills for file management
• Skilled in completing tasks accurately and with great attention to detail
• Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to enhance workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation
• Capable of working effectively in a remote environment through strong communication, organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness, and resourcefulness in a distraction-free workspace
• Ability to adhere to company and site safety requirements
• Skilled in analyzing and preparing documents, reports, and correspondence
• Effective communication skills in both oral and written forms (technical and non-technical information)
• Capable of working successfully as part of a team and independently with moderate supervision
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Strong organizational skills, with the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
