Systems Engineer III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and implement hardware engineering solutions (70%)

• Oversee designs for DDC and PLC programmable controller-based control systems across multiple projects

• Direct BAS controls and EPMS AE design as well as system integrator/BAS contractor shop drawing design

• Design controls network/system architecture that includes IT/OT requirements and interfaces tailored to application needs

• Select instrumentation, sensors, actuators, valves, and other field devices while creating Bills of Materials (BOMs)

• Lead designs for control panels, including layout, control power, relay logic, and wiring diagrams

• Create and review project specifications

• Develop and review sequence of operations

• Collaborate with client IT departments to ensure systems are safe and secure, aligning with best practices

• Construction Related Process, Deliverables, and Submissions (15%)

• Review and submit deliverables according to project requirements, which include AE design drawings, shop drawings, product data, operations and maintenance manuals, and as-builts

• Engage in building automation-focused design reviews

• Act as the primary client contact for one or more clients on projects of routine or complex scope

• Participate in both internal and external quality control and peer reviews

• Coordinate with vendors concerning product specifications, pricing, and availability

• Lead discussions and page turns during internal and external project meetings related to engineering scope

• Reporting and Communication (15%)

• Manage project communication and reporting

• Prepare project progress reports for both internal and external stakeholders

• Track personal hours using company tools

• Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and deliverables within budget

• Perform other related duties as assigned

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) with outstanding organizational skills for file management

• Familiarity with Revit and AutoCAD

• Capable of completing assignments accurately with a keen attention to detail

• Understanding of IoT and smart building solutions

• Knowledgeable in Networking, including Addressing, VLANs, LANs, Switches, and Routers

• Familiar with open-source protocols (BACnet, Modbus, and SNMP)

• Well-versed in DDC systems such as Distech, Honeywell, and Tridium Niagara

• Knowledge of PLC systems such as Schneider Electric and Allen Bradley

• Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Ability to utilize AI and emerging technologies to enhance workflows, optimize operational processes, and foster company-wide innovation

• Capacity to work effectively in a remote setting through exceptional communication and organizational skills, self-motivation, proactiveness, and resourcefulness in a distraction-free workspace

• Ability to adhere to company and site safety protocols

• Proficient in analyzing and preparing documents, reports, and correspondence

• Effective communicator in both oral and written forms (technical and non-technical information)

• Adept at direct communication with clients, sometimes serving as the primary point of contact

• Capable of working successfully both as part of a team and independently with moderate supervision

• Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Competent in planning effectively and delegating tasks to others

• Skilled at mentoring and training junior engineers
