Systems Engineer II

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Costa Rica.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain a secure and scalable Windows environment for Akamai's global workforce.

• Deploy and oversee critical services that connect thousands of endpoints.

• Analyze, investigate, and resolve intricate technical challenges related to the Windows operating system.

• Collaborate with engineers on documentation, testing, implementation, escalation, and act as a liaison to the Solution Center.

• Administer, configure, and sustain Akamai's global Windows fleet using group policy, registry settings, Kace, and Workspace One MDM tools.

• Design and enhance client OS deployment workflows utilizing management tools and scripting, while managing drivers, configurations, and upgrades, and maintaining infrastructure.

• Implement and uphold effective patch management strategies for Windows OS and third-party software, ensuring timely testing, staging, and rollout processes.

• Write, test, and maintain scripts (Powershell, VBS, Batch) for automating administrative tasks, enforcing configurations, and deploying software.

• Provide Tier 3 engineering support for complex Windows issues, conducting root-cause analysis, documenting solutions, and ensuring availability as needed.

• Monitor system health, performance metrics, and compliance logs across the enterprise-wide Windows infrastructure.

⛳️ Requirements

• Possess a high school diploma or a technical degree in a related field or its equivalent.

• Have 5 years of experience in enterprise systems engineering, specifically focusing on Windows administration at scale (3,000+ endpoints).

• Demonstrate proficiency in enterprise endpoint and systems management, encompassing deployment, patching, inventory, reporting, and adaptability to new tools.

• Exhibit expertise in Windows imaging workflows, including WIM deployment, driver integration, post-imaging setup, and automated build processes.

• Show proficiency in PowerShell, VBS, and batch scripting for automation, configuration enforcement, and administrative tasks, with Python experience considered a plus.

• Have a solid understanding of Windows architecture, file systems, registry, Group Policy (GPO), installer packaging, Active Directory, and security frameworks.

• Possess extensive knowledge and expertise related to these operating systems.
