Systems Architect – Head of Product

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Establish the comprehensive product architecture encompassing hardware, edge software, backend systems, AI workflows, user interfaces, and partner integrations.

• Convert founder and customer needs into precise product specifications.

• Take ownership of the MVP definition, prototype scope, pilot roadmap, and the long-term product strategy.

• Collaborate with engineering, design, business development, and external partners to guarantee a cohesive and deployable product.

• Assess decisions regarding building versus partnering across hardware, software, data, and integration layers.

• Define safe and dependable product functionality for real-world operational settings.

• Produce clear documentation, system diagrams, product requirements, and records of technical decisions.

• Assist in preparing demos, engaging in customer discussions, and developing technical materials for partners and investors.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in product and systems architecture in one or more of the following domains:

• Automated retail

• Vending machines

• Payments / POS / payment terminals

• Industrial IoT

• Retail automation

• Self-service kiosks

• Robotics

• Edge computing

• Hardware-plus-software platforms

• Machine telemetry or fleet systems

• Proven experience in building or architecting products deployed in real-world scenarios.

• Capability to operate across hardware, software, cloud, data, AI, and field operations.

• Strong product and technical judgment.

• Aptitude for generating clear specifications from uncertain requirements.

• Excellent communication skills with founders, engineers, commercial teams, and partners.

• Proficiency in English is mandatory.

• Openness to travel as necessary.
