Systems Engineer – Carrier, MSSP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Comprehensive understanding of the Fortinet portfolio, with the capability to demonstrate and convey both technical and business value.

• Solid foundational expertise in security and networking technologies, particularly with our "core technology," FortiOS-based products.

• Act as a Subject Matter Expert for Carrier/MSSPs and serve as the primary contact in a designated technical domain within or across assigned Carrier/MSSPs. Oversee domain use cases, competitive insights, and differentiation. Possess strong skills in product integration and customization, including relevant third-party integrations.

• Generate sales opportunities by identifying solutions to customer challenges and assisting in the qualification of sales leads from a technical standpoint. Identify chances to upsell and cross-sell Fortinet solutions while initiating and influencing project decisions.

• Oversee and direct all facets of the technical sales engagement, from general inquiries and demonstrations to responses to RfX, driving PoCs, and enabling discussions around features, specifications, and functionality to integration. Offer high-level architecture and implementation design consultation, along with best practice guidance for strategic opportunities.

• Serve as a trusted advisor for assigned MSSP/Carrier accounts, maintaining the technical relationship with customers. Identify chances to upsell and cross-sell Fortinet solutions. Collaborate closely with the regional escalation manager, technical support team, and engineering to ensure timely resolution of customer technical issues.

• Work collaboratively with peers, Consulting System Engineers (CSEs), Solution Architects, Business Consultants, Professional Services, and/or Partners on intricate opportunities. Capture and manage customer requirements through the Consulting System Engineering Team to Product Management.

• Assist in PreSales, Sales & Channel enablement activities and events.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in pre-sales support, demonstrating proven success.

• Expert-level knowledge in networking (LAN, WIFI, WAN, SDN, routing, switching, Internet services administration) and network security (Next-Gen Firewalls, Intrusion Detection, encryption protocols).

• Strong customer-centric approach to address complex technical and business demands, coupled with a self-motivated and positive attitude. Goal-oriented, flexible in adapting to changing priorities, demands, and timelines.

• Capability to engage with senior levels of internal and external organizations is essential.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication, presentation, prioritization, and interpersonal skills at an expert level.

• Extensive experience in the installation and configuration of network devices and systems (UNIX/Linux, Windows-based, virtualized, and containers), as well as public-cloud environments.

• Familiarity with the following domains is advantageous:

• Datacenter architectures (e.g., ACI, NSX-T)

• Security Architectures (e.g., Zero Trust, SASE, SD-WAN)

• Modern Software Architectures (e.g., DevOps, IaC)

• Cloud Architectures with at least one public cloud specialization

• Security Operations (e.g., Orchestration, Automation, SIEM Tools)

• IT Security standards (e.g., BSI 200-x, ISO2700x, COBIT, NIST) and/or relevant regulations (EU-DSGVO, BDSG, NIS-2/KRITIS).

• Proficient in scripting (preferably Ansible, Terraform, Python) with a solid understanding of APIs.

• Excellent proficiency in both German and English languages.

• Willingness to travel 20-50% of the time.
