This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Develop, allocate, maintain, and track technical requirements across various levels of product and plant architecture.
• Convert program objectives, stakeholder needs, design inputs, and regulatory factors into precise, complete, consistent, and verifiable requirements.
• Conduct and assist with functional analysis and decomposition to specify necessary system behavior and establish traceability among functions, requirements, architecture, and verification activities.
• Create and uphold functional, logical, and physical system architectures.
• Define, document, coordinate, and manage internal and external interfaces among systems, organizations, suppliers, facilities, and external partners.
• Formulate verification strategies, methods, plans, acceptance criteria, and evidence showcasing compliance with requirements.
• Coordinate and lead multidisciplinary reviews related to requirements, architecture, interfaces, integration, and verification.
• Ensure adherence to company procedures, codes, standards, and regulatory mandates.
• Spearhead focused systems engineering initiatives and assess system-level impacts of proposed modifications.
• Assist in managing technical risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies throughout the engineering lifecycle.
• Mentor junior engineers and enhance systems engineering processes, tools, templates, training, and documentation.
• Execute additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Relevant professional experience utilizing systems engineering methodologies on complex engineering programs or products.
• Experience in developing, allocating, maintaining, and tracing technical requirements.
• Proficiency with functional analysis and decomposition, system architecture development, interface definition and management, system integration, requirements verification and validation, or technical change-impact assessment.
• Experience in coordinating technical reviews or leading focused cross-functional engineering tasks.
• Strong skills in technical writing, communication, presentation, and interpersonal interactions.
• Familiarity with systems engineering lifecycle processes and technical management practices.
• Understanding of requirements development, decomposition, allocation, traceability, verification, and validation.
• Knowledge of functional, logical, and physical architecture development.
• Expertise in interface identification, definition, documentation, and control.
• Knowledge of system integration, configuration management, and engineering change-control principles.
• Understanding of technical risk, assumption, issue, opportunity, and dependency management.
• General knowledge of engineering design, licensing, quality, operations, and project execution within intricate technical programs.
• Capability in crafting clear, concise, implementation-independent, and verifiable technical requirements.
• Proficiency in conducting functional analysis, architecture development, interface analysis, and change-impact assessment.
• Skill in utilizing requirements management, modeling, analysis, and documentation tools.
• Ability to evaluate complex systems comprehensively and recognize interactions, dependencies, and unintended effects.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines, organizations, and levels of technical authority.
• Ability to balance technical rigor with program cost, schedule, risk, and execution requirements.
• Skill in managing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced engineering environment.
• Ability to proactively gather, organize, manage, and transfer technical knowledge.
• Must be authorized by the Department of Energy to access Part 810-controlled information; certain foreign nationals may require a DOE export control license.
• Experience in nuclear, power generation, aerospace, defense, energy, or another highly regulated sector is preferred.
• Experience with requirements management tools such as Jama Connect is preferred.
• Familiarity with model-based systems engineering methods and tools is preferred.
• Understanding of nuclear quality, licensing, safety, or regulatory practices is preferred.
• Experience supporting design reviews, trade studies, configuration management, or technical baseline management is preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 or the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook is preferred.
