Systems Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Responsible for the installation, support, and maintenance of server hardware and software infrastructure.

• Oversee database systems management, specifically MariaDB and ClickHouse, as well as web servers like Nginx.

• Monitor server and network usage for optimal performance.

• Ensure resources are utilized in the most cost-effective and efficient manner.

• Plan and implement future deployments as necessary.

• Availability for critical infrastructure situations on a 24/7 basis may be required.

• Contribute to team process enhancements by adhering to industry best practices and principles.

• Engage in team knowledge-sharing initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience with Linux systems, preferably RedHat.

• Advanced understanding of web servers that utilize PHP.

• Proficient in MariaDB administration.

• Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet).

• Experience with caching technologies such as Redis, Memcached, and CouchBase.

• Exposure to Agile methodologies (SCRUM) and related management tools (JIRA, Confluence).

• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

• Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud and AWS.

• Proficient in scripting languages like Bash, Python, Ruby, and Perl.

• Familiar with version control systems like Git/GitHub.

• Knowledge of networking, particularly DNS configuration.

• Understanding of VRRP.

• Experience in remote server installation (PXE, Kickstart).

• Nice to have: Some familiarity with PHP, Python, and Go.

• Exposure to Big Data technologies including Hadoop and Impala.

• Familiar with ELK (Elasticsearch and related technologies).

• Knowledge of security measures (SELinux, IPTables) and advanced networking.

• Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios.
