System Engineer – Public Cloud

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Development and execution of scalable, secure system architectures, along with the provisioning and maintenance of the physical infrastructure (underlay) necessary for operating the OpenStack components.

• Designing and implementing automation frameworks for bare-metal operations, which includes release management and CI/CD pipelines.

• Operating, monitoring, and continuously optimizing the performance of complex infrastructures utilizing our observability stack (Grafana, Prometheus).

• Managing incidents independently, which encompasses root-cause analysis, performance tuning, and providing third-level support for critical internal systems.

• Overseeing small projects and offering technical consulting to internal stakeholders regarding the implementation of specific architectural requirements.

• Ensuring system reliability through proactive lifecycle management and the integration of standard IT security protocols (hardening) in close collaboration with the Security team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Relevant professional experience in system engineering or administration of large, complex IT infrastructures, along with a completed IT apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.

• Extensive expertise in operating Linux distributions (preferably Debian) and a strong understanding of virtualization technologies and network services (such as DNS).

• Proficient scripting skills (Bash, Python) and substantial hands-on experience with configuration management and Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Consul).

• Practical experience with contemporary CI/CD workflows (GitLab), GitOps, monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus), and ideally relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).

• Basic knowledge of IT security standards and compliance (ISO 27001, BSI, C5).

• Excellent proficiency in English.
