This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• The Systems Engineer for Infrastructure Services is tasked with designing, implementing, supporting, and continually enhancing enterprise data center infrastructure services, which encompass VMware virtualization platforms, server compute, storage, disaster recovery, and backup technologies. This role guarantees the stability, performance, security, and recoverability of systems that underpin essential clinical and business operations across LifePoint’s hospital network.
• As a vital member of the Data Center Center of Excellence (COE), the Systems Engineer promotes infrastructure standardization, operational consistency, uptime, and availability of systems, along with risk mitigation across virtualization, compute, storage, and data protection platforms.
• This role offers hands-on engineering and operational support, which includes proactive monitoring, issue triage, incident resolution, and lifecycle management to minimize operational risks, enhance resiliency, and fulfill high-availability and disaster recovery objectives.
• The Systems Engineer collaborates with engineering teams, operations, vendors, and business stakeholders to execute infrastructure initiatives, support enterprise projects, and uphold disciplined change management and operational best practices. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that infrastructure services align with defined service levels, compliance mandates, and recovery goals while facilitating scalable, secure, and cost-effective operations across the organization.
• A minimum of four (4) years of experience in supporting enterprise infrastructure or data center environments.
• Hands-on experience with virtualized environments, specifically VMware or comparable hypervisor technologies.
• Experience in supporting server, storage, and backup platforms within a production setting.
• Proficient in infrastructure monitoring, incident response, and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow or similar tools).
• Familiarity with supporting Commvault backup environments, including VMware, Windows OS, Linux Red Hat, and Dell Technology storage devices.
• Knowledge of Zerto replication, Commvault, and Veeam backup systems.
• Experience and knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and Azure infrastructure are preferred.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience.

• Travel requirements: Less than 15% travel to HSC (Brentwood, TN) and/or facilities.
• Support and maintain enterprise data center infrastructure, including hypervisor technologies (VMware, Nutanix, etc.), server compute, storage, and backup platforms.
• Carry out daily operational tasks such as server and virtual machine provisioning, configuration, patching, upgrades, event log troubleshooting, and decommissioning.
• Monitor infrastructure health, performance, and capacity using enterprise monitoring tools; respond to alerts and incidents as assigned.
• Triage and resolve infrastructure-related incidents across virtualization, compute, storage, and backup environments, escalating issues as necessary.
• Implement approved infrastructure changes in line with change management processes and maintenance schedules.
• Assist with backup, restore, and disaster recovery activities, including regular testing and validation.
• Work collaboratively with application, network, security, and facilities teams to assist in resolving infrastructure issues.
• Engage in infrastructure projects, platform upgrades, and technology refresh initiatives under the guidance of senior engineers or leadership.
• Maintain precise documentation, runbooks, and configuration records to support operational consistency and compliance.
• Create and manage incidents, service requests, and change records within ServiceNow.
• Comply with security, compliance, and healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.
• Participate in training and skill development to retain proficiency with infrastructure platforms and tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
