• Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-year revenue strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and growth objectives.
• Drive substantial revenue growth through major donors and institutional funders.
• Foster and sustain relationships with high-net-worth individuals and institutional supporters.
• Advance multi-year principal gifts, partnerships, and funding opportunities ranging from seven to eight figures.
• Create and execute a Capital Campaign strategy for the organization.
• Collaborate with the CEO and CRO to set clear revenue targets, develop pipeline strategies, and maintain forecasting discipline.
• Establish systems and processes to ensure effective donor qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and engagement.
• Analyze and oversee fundraising campaigns to ensure they meet established goals and are executed proficiently.
• Work alongside cross-functional teams to align philanthropic strategies with organizational priorities and initiatives.
• Personally manage, solicit, and nurture a portfolio of premier donors and prospects.
• Collaborate closely with the executive team and Board of Directors on donor engagement and fundraising strategies.
• Design and implement customized cultivation strategies that align donor interests with the priorities of American Forests.
• Act as a strategic partner to the CEO in advancing relationships with top-tier donors and promoting philanthropic growth.
• Prepare the CEO for high-stakes donor interactions, including creating briefing materials, strategizing, and ensuring follow-up.
• Co-develop and implement solicitation strategies for principal gifts, including direct involvement in donor meetings and requests.
• Ensure seamless coordination among executive leadership to present a unified and compelling case for support.
• Oversee foundation fundraising strategies and engagement, including national, regional, place-based opportunities, and select corporate partners.
• Strengthen and develop relationships with key philanthropic institutions and public funders.
• Increase complex gifts, including multi-year commitments, restricted funding, and blended funding models, while also enhancing flexible multi-year funding commitments.
• Collaborate with Finance and Program teams to ensure proposals are thoroughly scoped, costed, and aligned with organizational priorities.
• Proactively identify, qualify, and nurture new high-capacity donors.
• Leverage personal and professional networks to expand the prospect pipeline.
• Engage Board members and senior stakeholders in donor identification and relationship development.
• Represent American Forests at high-level events, meetings, and donor forums.
• 12+ years of progressive fundraising experience, with a strong emphasis on major and principal gifts.
• Proven success in securing seven- and eight-figure gifts from individuals and/or institutions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex donor relationships and navigate sophisticated philanthropic environments.
• Experience working closely with senior executives and preparing principals (CEO/Board) for donor engagement.
• Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate organizational priorities into compelling funding opportunities.
• High level of executive presence, sound judgment, and discretion.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience managing multi-million-dollar accounts and fundraising targets is required.
• Strong supervisory and leadership abilities, with experience in managing and developing a high-performing team.
• Demonstrated expertise in non-profit fundraising, strategic planning, and donor relations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in the environmental, conservation, climate, or land-use sectors.
• Familiarity with family offices, donor-advised funds, and institutional philanthropy.
• Experience in a growth-stage or scaling nonprofit organization.
