Sustainability Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Gather, validate, and analyze client activity data (energy consumption, travel, waste, procurement, etc.) to determine organizational carbon footprints (Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions)

• Utilize established methodologies and standards such as GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, SECR, and PAS 2060

• Create clear and well-organized carbon footprint reports for client boards, investors, or regulatory submissions

• Translate technical insights into actionable, prioritized emissions-reduction strategies customized for each client's industry and operations

• Assist clients in setting targets, including Science Based Targets, and developing net zero roadmaps

• Stay informed about UK and international sustainability regulations, reporting frameworks, and best practices

• Directly engage with clients to collect data, present findings, and address inquiries

• Oversee multiple client projects simultaneously while adhering to established deadlines

• Contribute to the development of internal tools, templates, and calculation methodologies to enhance efficiency and consistency

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in calculating carbon footprints utilizing the GHG Protocol or an equivalent methodology

• Proficient Excel/data analysis skills

• Experience with carbon accounting software (e.g. SINAI, Watershed, Normative, or similar) is a plus

• Exceptional written communication abilities, with proven experience in producing professional reports

• Capability to simplify complex technical data into understandable recommendations for non-technical audiences

• Strong attention to detail and comfort in managing large datasets

• Solid understanding of UK sustainability regulations and reporting obligations (e.g. SECR, TCFD, CSRD if engaging with EU-linked clients)
