Survey Technician – Crew Chief

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Accountable for gathering data to ensure project completion.

• Identifying boundaries, pins, improvements, utilities, and more while executing various project types, including ALTA, boundary, construction staking, and topographic surveys.

• Review and process raw field data, conduct calculations, and manage survey data downloads and filing.

• Conduct project research as necessary.

• Adhere to instructions and work orders from project managers.

• Maintain daily communication with your Field Project Manager to confirm alignment with your field schedule and notify them if you are ahead or behind schedule.

• Physical work environment requirements:

• Capability to safely navigate rugged terrain in remote locations.

• Willingness to consistently work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wet, and muddy environments, as well as high or precarious locations.

• Ability to transport heavy equipment to multiple job sites, regularly lifting/moving up to 25 pounds, frequently lifting/moving up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lifting/moving up to 100 pounds.

• Willingness to travel regionally and nationally frequently.

• Availability to work overtime, including weekends as required.

• Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and team members.

• Ensure that projects are executed safely and efficiently, adhering to schedules and budget constraints.

• Maintain survey equipment and address any issues that may occur in the field.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief.

• Strong comprehension of surveying principles and practices.

• Proficient in operating survey equipment such as total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors.

• Part 107 license is preferred but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with CAD software, particularly Carlson AutoCAD, is advantageous but not essential.

• Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.

• Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team, focusing on delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.
