Surgical Coding Specialist III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Ancillary or specialty departments, locations, and providers to code, review, and timely release charges.

• Ensure accurate coding, billing compliance, and comprehensive charge capture.

• Work alongside providers and other departmental staff and leaders on queries or topics related to coding or charge capture.

• Assign or confirm CPT, ICD-10 CM coding, and modifiers based on documentation.

• Act as a subject matter expert in one or more specialties and may also cover multiple surgical/medical specialties for abstraction, ambulatory, and/or surgical/procedural coding.

• Maintain compliance with official coding guidelines.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of Profee coding experience in a healthcare role is required.

• Preferred knowledge in specialty surgical coding for Pediatric Urology and Pediatric ENT.

• Familiarity with ICD10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.

• Working knowledge of CCI edits, healthcare insurance guidelines, and other regulatory directives.

• Previous experience using an Electronic Health Record is necessary.

• Epic experience is preferred.

• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.

• Ability to work autonomously, exercise independent judgment, and effectively solve problems.

• Certification required: one of the following - CPC (Certified Professional Coder) from the American Board of Professional Coders, CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist Physician Based) from the American Health Information Management Association, CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) from the American Health Information Management Association, or RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) from the American Health Information Management Association.
