Coding Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Examine and authenticate medical codes associated with diagnoses, procedures, and services to guarantee accuracy and conformity with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and other coding frameworks.

• Offer specialized coding advice and assistance to clinicians and various departments, acting as a resource for intricate coding inquiries.

• Perform coding audits and quality assessments to detect discrepancies and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

• Produce and evaluate coding productivity reports.

• Work alongside IT and billing teams to address system challenges affecting coding processes.

• Engage in organizational initiatives, training, and continuous enhancement efforts to improve the coding workflow.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related discipline is preferred.

• Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or an equivalent credential is mandatory.

• A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in medical coding, ideally within home health, hospice, or similar healthcare environments.

• Strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.

• Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and coding software applications.
