Surgical Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Identifies and utilizes the appropriate ICD-10 diagnostic and CPT procedural codes for individual patient health information to facilitate claims processing, data retrieval, and analysis.

• Oversees patient financial activities, which involve the precise entry of insurance benefits, authorizations, and other processes that ensure complete and accurate claims.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a physician's office is required.

• At least one (1) year of experience in CPT and ICD physician coding is required.

• Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P), or Certified General Surgery Coder (CGSC) is required, or the candidate must obtain certification within one (1) year of employment.

• A college degree is preferred.

• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently in a self-directed environment are preferred.

• Experience in Multi-Specialty coding is preferred.

• Basic knowledge of third-party payers is preferred.

• Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships is preferred.

• Previous experience with medical terminology is preferred.

• Basic accounting and math skills are preferred.

• Proficiency in computer, keyboard, and data input skills is preferred.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a high-volume setting is preferred.

• Familiarity with electronic health records software and proficiency in all Microsoft Office software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access) is preferred.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills are preferred.
