This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Leverage available encoder, grouper software, and other coding resources to identify the appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes, including specialty-specific codes and Evaluation and Management (E&M) codes.
• Maintain and apply knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives (NCCI), Local Coverage Documents and National Coverage Documents (LCD/NCD) directives, Medically Unlikely Edits (MUEs), and Medicare Teaching Physician Guidelines.
• Address payer denials and respond to inquiries from revenue cycle teams, processing charge corrections as necessary.
• High School Diploma or equivalent and medical coding education is required.
• An active coding certification is required in lieu of a medical coding education.
• An Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred.
• A minimum of 1 year of progressive coding experience is preferred.
• At least 2 years of progressive coding experience in multiple specialties, including HCC Risk Adjustment Coding, is preferred.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) must be obtained within 1 year.
• Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC - A) must be obtained within 1 year.
• Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) must be obtained within 1 year.
• Certified Outpatient Coder Apprentice (COC - A) must be obtained within 1 year.
• Certified Inpatient Coder (CIPC) must be obtained within 1 year.
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) must be obtained within 1 year.
• Certified Coding Specialist Physician-Based (CCS-P) must be obtained within 1 year.
• Certified Coding Associate (CCA) must be obtained within 1 year.
• Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) is preferred upon hire.
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is preferred upon hire.
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) is preferred upon hire.
• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is preferred.
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) is preferred.
• Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) is preferred upon hire.
