This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +3 more states.
• Code encounters related to ambulatory surgery, observation, and ancillary services.
• Analyze operative reports and clinical documentation to accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Extract clinical and demographic information into hospital information systems.
• Ensure coding accuracy and adherence to CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, AHIMA, and AAPC standards.
• Assign and validate APCs while ensuring claims are ready for submission.
• Collaborate with physicians and clinical personnel to clarify documentation when necessary.
• Provide assistance with coding for the emergency department and outpatient diagnostics depending on departmental workload.
• Achieve established productivity, quality, and accuracy benchmarks.
• Manage assigned encounters through Epic work queues using a service-date-driven workflow process.
• Completion of a coding program approved by AHIMA or AAPC.
• Active coding certification such as CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA, or an equivalent credential.
• 4–5 years of recent experience in hospital-based outpatient coding.
• Familiarity with Epic software.
• Strong experience in facility coding.
• Experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and outpatient reimbursement methodologies.
• Must be a resident of Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, or Texas.
• Availability for full-time work, Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week.
