Production Coding Specialist I

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Evaluate anesthesia documentation along with other necessary paperwork to ensure all required elements, such as attestations, signatures, and dates, are present.

• Extract and code surgical procedures from all sections of CPT.

• Map surgical codes to ASA codes.

• Utilize appropriate modifiers.

• Summarize anesthesia times and events.

• Recognize and assign care team providers.

• Assess documentation for medical direction.

• Achieve team KPIs, encompassing daily production goals and quarterly coding audit score standards.

• Comply with departmental playbooks and protocols.

• Follow company policies and procedures meticulously, particularly those related to HIPAA and confidentiality.

• Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in complex surgical CPT and ICD10 coding.

• A minimum of one year of experience in anesthesia coding is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with coding for physicians, CRNAs, CAAs, NPs, SRNAs, and residents.

• Understanding of NCCI bundling, LCD/NCD, and CMS coding regulations.

• Capability to determine start and end times, care team composition, and medical direction.

• Ability to adhere to departmental playbooks and protocols.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• Current CPC certification is mandatory; CANPC certification is a plus.

• Proficiency with various EMRs and types of documentation, including handwritten and electronic medical records.

• Basic experience with charge capture platforms.

• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe PDF.

• Intermediate proficiency in Outlook.

• Proficient in ten-key data entry.

• Competence in reading, writing, and speaking English.

• Strong computer skills.

• Ability to work independently and motivate oneself on new projects.
