This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Conduct a thorough review of medical records and extract physicians’ professional services and diagnosis codes.
• Assign the correct ICD-10-CM and ICD-10 codes along with modifiers in accordance with Official Coding Guidelines.
• Offer feedback on documentation to clients and account managers.
• Maintain up-to-date coding reference materials.
• Review and communicate any new or updated billing and coding guidelines with providers and assigned specialties.
• Address pre-accounts receivable edits.
• Identify and report recurring documentation issues and system-related problems.
• Rectify incorrectly billed services, include missing unbilled services, supply missing data, and amend CPT and ICD-10 codes and modifiers.
• Collaborate with Patient Accounting and other operational areas to assist with coding reimbursement.
• Aid in identifying and resolving incorrect claim issues and support the drafting of appeal letters.
• Work alongside Revenue Cycle staff and Account Inquiry Unit personnel as needed.
• Assist in procuring documentation such as notes and operative reports.
• Provide additional information on codes and modifiers.
• Achieve minimum coding productivity and quality standards for each type of encounter.
• Perform other assigned duties.
• High School diploma or equivalent qualification.
• AHIMA or AAPC certification is mandatory.
• CPC, CPC-M, CPMA, CEMC, or CCS-P certification is preferred.
• Experience with Epic software is required.
• At least 1 year of experience in outpatient professional fee medical coding.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Advanced and proficient understanding of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10 coding.
• Self-motivated with a strong passion for the company’s mission and values.
• Professional proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Proficient typing skills and effective pacing are essential.
• Competent application of business/office standard processes and technical applications.
• Availability to work part-time, between 20–30 hours per week.
• Willingness to work between 6 AM and 8 PM Central time, Monday through Friday.
• Current residency in the United States is required.
