This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversees the daily activities of the Data Services team, concentrating on Data Engineering, BI Reporting, and Data Operations / Production Support.
• This role involves hands-on leadership, focusing on work planning, team execution, and ensuring the operational reliability of data pipelines, data stores, and reporting outputs.
• Collaborates closely with IT and business stakeholders to provide reliable data products and analytics while incorporating data management and governance best practices (metadata, lineage, data quality, access controls, and standards) into operations and delivery.
• Accountable for aligning corporate data assets and reporting outputs managed by the team with IT policies, security requirements, and relevant regulatory obligations (e.g., HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley).
• Engages in technical planning for data platforms, databases, and reporting initiatives; converts roadmap items into actionable tasks.
• Assesses operational data and reporting requirements; collaborates with stakeholders to gather needs and propose solutions.
• Organizes and monitors the delivery of planned and unplanned work (requirements, sequencing, estimates, and status updates).
• Provides technical guidance (standards, troubleshooting, work procedures) and facilitates code/solution reviews and operational readiness.
• Offers recommendations regarding priorities, operational enhancements, and data service practices that impact the broader functional area.
• Leads incident management for data pipelines and reporting: triage, root cause analysis, corrective measures, and documentation.
• Supervises production support practices (monitoring/alerting, deployments, scheduled jobs, runbooks) to ensure reliability and meet SLA expectations.
• Evaluates and assists in the implementation of new data tools/solutions; supports the integration of new technologies and initiatives (readiness, migrations, knowledge transfer).
• Promotes the adoption of data governance and data management practices (metadata, lineage, data quality monitoring, access controls, and reporting governance).
• Ensures adherence to data and information security protocols, including least-privilege access and secure handling of sensitive data (e.g., PHI).
• Guarantees that work is conducted in compliance with company policies, departmental procedures, and established technical standards; reinforces consistent execution across the team.
• Manages work intake and delivery in coordination with customers, vendors/partners, and other IT teams; communicates status, risks, and dependencies.
• Tracks individual and team performance (timeliness, quality, and SLA compliance); provides feedback, coaching plans, and follow-up to address performance gaps.
• Bachelor's Degree. Equivalent work experience or demonstrated competency may be accepted in place of education.
• 3 – 5 years’ experience in a Team Lead role.
• Over 7 years of IT experience, with at least 5 years focused on the development of large-scale applications and application system design.
• Experience in managing customer requirements or expectations.
• Must possess knowledge of data engineering concepts and practices (data integration, ETL/ELT, scheduling/orchestration, reliability, and operational support).
• Must have practical knowledge of data management and governance practices, including metadata, lineage, data quality, stewardship, and reporting governance.
• Capability to lead daily work delegation, prioritize competing demands, and coordinate delivery across multiple workstreams.
• Strong customer partnership skills, including the ability to clarify requirements, set expectations, and communicate status/risks effectively.
• Must demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including incident triage, root cause analysis, and a preventive improvement mindset.
• Familiarity with security, compliance, and data protection standards (e.g., HIPAA/PHI, regulatory reporting, retention, appropriate access controls).
• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Understanding of project delivery practices and basic project management principles (planning, sequencing, dependencies, and milestones).
