Substation Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create new or modify existing electrical layouts and plans for substation equipment and structures.

• Design substation foundation layout and plan drawings.

• Produce section and elevation views based on layout and plan drawings.

• Develop conduit layout and plan drawings.

• Create substation grounding layout and plan drawings.

• Draft control building layout plans and section/elevation drawings.

• Prepare electrical schematics.

• Complete electrical wiring design drawings.

• Generate a comprehensive bill of materials for all necessary electrical equipment and materials.

• Review and provide feedback on equipment drawings submitted by vendors and manufacturers.

• Collaborate with other disciplines, such as Civil Engineers, to complete assigned tasks.

• Support the project team in developing processes and procedures aimed at enhancing team efficiency.

• Conduct basic engineering calculations to aid in engineering design.

• Implement applicable client, national, and state standards for each task as required.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate's degree in a related discipline is preferred.

• At least 1 year of direct experience in substation physical and electrical design using CAD software for electric utility industry projects.

• Strong understanding and application of 2D and 3D design software, including MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Inventor 3D with SDS.

• Proficient in using Windows-based software like Word and Excel.

• Advanced capability in utilizing 2D and 3D applications to create engineering drawings.
