This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Create electrical designs for medium- and high-voltage substations that support renewable energy initiatives.
• Develop one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, grounding plans, protection and control schematics, and equipment layouts.
• Design and specify equipment for substations, including transformers, breakers, relays, switches, and protection systems.
• Conduct basic power system studies as necessary (load flow, short circuit, grounding, etc.).
• Generate and assess design drawings using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Prepare technical specifications, design calculations, and engineering documentation.
• Assist with permitting, utility interconnections, and regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, protection & controls, and solar engineering teams.
• Aid construction teams by addressing RFIs, evaluating submittals, and resolving on-site issues.
• Ensure that designs adhere to NEC, NESC, IEEE standards, utility requirements, and project-specific guidelines.
• Integrate safety, constructability, and long-term reliability into all design efforts.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in substation or power systems design.
• Solid understanding of medium- and high-voltage electrical systems.
• Expertise in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Knowledge of utility interconnection requirements and substation standards.
• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, IEEE, and relevant electrical codes.
• Experience in supporting construction and field execution is preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
