This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver high-quality training courseware for residents and mobile DART designed to enhance awareness of UAS threats, including legal implications and counter-drone technologies.
• Guide participants through detection strategies, identification techniques, threat evaluations, and practical response methods, ensuring preparedness for real-world applications.
• Conduct research to support course material, provide authoritative references, and identify resources pertinent to DART training, focusing on threat mitigation and counter strategies.
• Review course materials to verify accuracy, technical relevance, and alignment with current UAS operational practices, US laws and regulations, and recognized authorities such as the Department of War (DOW), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
• Assist in drafting, reviewing, and enhancing lesson topics, learning objectives, and instructional materials for both new course iterations and re-certifications to comply with NMIMT and FEMA National Training and Education Division (NTED) standards.
• Participate in pilot course deliveries, provide instructional support as needed, and address feedback from participants, FEMA/NTED, other stakeholders, and the NMIMT Curriculum Manager.
• Collaborate closely with NMIMT curriculum developers, instructional designers, and program staff to ensure course content is instructional and operationally accurate in line with NMIMT and FEMA/NTED requirements.
• Incorporate feedback on instructional design as directed by the NMIMT Curriculum Manager into course materials and activities, including updates to lectures, classroom exercises, field exercises, and other components to ensure accuracy, instructional effectiveness, and compliance with FEMA/NTED standards.
• Provide technical insights on specialized topics within the SME’s expertise, covering UAS functions, components, trends, and associated laws and regulations when consulted by NMIMT.
• Support NMIMT by gathering, analyzing, and documenting data related to UAS training content. Tasks may involve assisting with formal needs assessments, evaluating pilot course delivery feedback, and contributing to after-action reviews.
• Maintain compliance with FAA Part 107 and NMIMT Instructor Certification Program requirements throughout the duration of the assignment.
• Possess significant subject matter expertise in Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) assessments, tactics, response operations, and counter-UAS detection equipment.
• Have knowledge and experience in Law Enforcement and/or Military related to teaching explosive hazards and terrorist threat subject matter.
• Hold a Remote Pilot Certificate with a small UAS rating under FAA Part 107, preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of operational drone flight experience in Law Enforcement and/or Military, preferred.
• Demonstrate a high level of organization along with strong verbal and written communication skills and technical software proficiency.
• Travel is required to support resident and mobile course offerings.
