This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Deliver subject matter expertise and advisory support for the design, development, and execution of extensive strategic communications campaigns aimed at Veterans, caregivers, and internal VA stakeholders, in line with the Office of Suicide Prevention priorities.
• Oversee media analysis initiatives across social media platforms, traditional media outlets, and digital ecosystems to evaluate campaign reach, sentiment, audience engagement, and identify opportunities for enhancing Veteran outreach effectiveness.
• Formulate and present strategic communications recommendations for both internal VA audiences (clinical staff, program offices, leadership) and external stakeholders (Veterans, community partners, advocacy organizations), ensuring consistent messaging and alignment with the mission.
• Assist in the planning and execution of integrated Veteran outreach and communication campaigns, which include the development of campaign frameworks, messaging architectures, channel strategies, and evaluation plans tailored to suicide prevention goals.
• Collaborate with VA program leaders, federal partners, and interdisciplinary sprint teams to ensure communications strategies are in sync with clinical, policy, and operational objectives, while adhering to VA branding, plain language, and Section 508 accessibility standards.
• Keep abreast of emerging trends, policy changes, and best practices in federal healthcare communications and suicide prevention awareness to proactively influence sprint deliverables, stakeholder briefings, and campaign adjustments throughout the performance period.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in large-scale communications within a healthcare environment, with a proven track record of leading or supporting complex, multi-channel campaigns.
• A Master's Degree in Communications, Public Health, Public Affairs, Journalism, Marketing, or a closely related field is mandatory.
• Prior experience collaborating with federal agencies, the Department of Veterans Affairs, or other large integrated healthcare systems, with an understanding of navigating federal communications approval processes and stakeholder environments.
• Capability to obtain and maintain a VA PIV credential and successfully pass a VA background investigation; existing access to the VA network or prior federal contractor clearance is advantageous.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States; this role is a federal contract position and U.S. citizenship may be necessary to fulfill agency security requirements.
• Proven expertise in social media analysis, digital media strategy, and executing successful integrated communications campaigns with measurable results in a healthcare or public health setting.
