This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee critical structural design tasks for large-scale renewable energy and substation initiatives.
• Develop structural engineering plans, specifications, and calculations for renewable energy and substation projects.
• Design concrete or steel foundations for project equipment that comply with local, state, and federal jurisdictional requirements considering various geotechnical conditions and soil types.
• Obtain and utilize advanced knowledge of renewable energy system layouts and components, including modules, racking, inverters, and Balance of Systems (BOS).
• Design systems, components, or processes for projects and produce necessary project documentation.
• Identify and resolve engineering challenges.
• Independently assess, choose, and implement standard procedures and criteria.
• Create a project task work plan and guide discipline team members.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, industry standards, trade practices, and jurisdictional safety regulations.
• Facilitate client engagement across multiple projects within a single portfolio.
• Delegate tasks and oversee discipline team members to ensure completion of assignments.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
• Participate in project meetings and confidently present specific engineering aspects of assignments.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering.
• Over 5 years of experience in a structural engineering design capacity.
• Extensive proficiency with software tools such as RISA 2D/3D/Foundation, Enercalc, L-PILE, or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360/341, IBC, NDS.
• Capability to interpret and analyze site studies, geotechnical reports, and civil, structural, and architectural drawings.
• Aptitude for identifying and resolving complex issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Capacity to be both innovative and analytical.
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
• Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate is highly preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience with utility or commercial solar PV systems, substations, or energy storage system design is highly preferred.
