Structural and Systems Installation Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop 3D airframe definitions from initial concept through to production for both primary and secondary structural components, as well as related systems installation components.

• Create and maintain 2D drawings accompanied by integrated working instructions.

• Design and integrate systems installation components within the aircraft structures.

• Ensure that designs comply with relevant airworthiness regulations and adhere to engineering best practices.

• Provide ongoing engineering support to manufacturing processes and in-service activities.

• Engage in the design and management of significant interfaces with internal teams and structural/system suppliers.

• Oversee, assist, and mentor suppliers to guarantee the quality and prompt delivery of engineering documentation.

• Coordinate impact assessments and the execution of design modifications.

• Support and take part in certification processes.

• Keep management informed about project status, risks, and any emerging challenges.

• Manage and adjust digital mock-ups of metallic and/or composite aircraft structures using CATIA V5.

• Ensure that Fit, Form, Function, and Manufacturability requirements are consistently satisfied.

• Investigate intricate technical issues and devise design solutions.

• Review and authorize technical documentation.

• Identify design risks and opportunities for weight reduction.

• Serve as a technical lead and assist in the development of junior engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

• At least 5 years of pertinent structural design experience, suitable for integrator/senior roles.

• Experience in the aerospace manufacturing sector is preferred for junior roles and mandatory for senior positions.

• Experience in systems installation design is advantageous.

• Familiarity with airworthiness certification requirements is a plus.
