Electrical Design Engineer I – PV Solar & Storage

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop electrical engineering plans, specifications, and calculations for renewable energy and substation initiatives.

• Execute design tasks on minor projects or segments of larger assignments.

• Produce design drawings, which encompass one-line and three-line diagrams, electrical layouts, AC/DC schematics, AC/DC cable schedules, wiring diagrams, grounding, trenching, and conduit details.

• Engage in the formulation of equipment specifications and enhance knowledge of renewable energy systems such as PV solar modules, inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), transformers, cable management systems, and balance-of-system (BOS) components.

• Utilize standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform designated tasks as part of a larger project.

• Ensure adherence to company policies, industry standards, trade practices, and jurisdictional safety codes.

• Operate under the guidance of senior personnel.

• Work under close supervision for all aspects of assigned tasks.

• Receive comprehensive reviews of completed work to ensure the application of sound professional judgment.

• Carry out essential responsibilities, including meeting project deliverables and deadlines.

• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned or directed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, a related engineering field with substantial electrical coursework, or a comparable qualification.

• Some previous experience (including academic and internship opportunities) in designing and drafting using AutoCAD.

• Knowledge of reading and applying sections of the NEC, as well as understanding relevant codes and standards.

• Ability to identify and resolve complex problems.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Capacity to be both innovative and analytical.

• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong time management skills – able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision while effectively prioritizing, organizing, and planning to meet all deadlines.

• EIT Certificate is preferred.

• Previous experience in renewable energy projects is desirable.
