This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Conduct structural and dynamic evaluations to confirm the integrity of umbilical systems during both launch and abort scenarios.
• Assess disconnect timing, clearance needs, and load conditions.
• Examine launch pad structures, support equipment, and integrated mechanical systems.
• Assist in the creation of load cases and design validation efforts.
• Analyze test fixtures, stands, instrumentation hardware, and leak-check devices.
• Execute structural assessments on lifting fixtures, transport frames, handling rings, and related tooling.
• Review load paths, rigging setups, rated loads, and safety factors.
• Generate hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) models to aid design validation.
• Compile analysis reports for engineering documentation and design evaluations.
• Collaborate with design and drafting teams to facilitate structural design choices.
• Ensure adherence to relevant engineering standards and safety regulations.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience conducting structural analysis utilizing hand calculations and FEA techniques.
• Proficiency in ANSYS, Nastran, Abaqus, or similar analytical software.
• Solid understanding of static, dynamic, thermal, and load path analyses.
• Familiarity with safety factors, rated loads, and lifting/handling standards such as NASA-STD-8719 or ASME BTH-1.
