Strategic Sourcing Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies for designated categories (e.g., direct materials, indirect services, spend)

• Oversee supplier selection, qualification, and onboarding activities

• Implement cost reduction strategies through negotiation, value engineering, and market assessment

• Manage RFx processes (RFI, RFP, RFQ) and evaluate supplier submissions

• Establish and nurture robust supplier relationships to ensure performance, innovation, and risk management

• Track supplier performance using KPIs such as cost, quality, delivery, and responsiveness

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders (engineering, quality, operations) to synchronize sourcing strategies with product and business objectives

• Identify and alleviate supply chain risks, including capacity limitations, geopolitical issues, and reliance on single-source suppliers

• Lead contract negotiations and ensure adherence to legal and company standards

• Assess market trends, cost factors, and industry benchmarks to guide sourcing choices

• Assist in new product introduction (NPI) efforts by involving suppliers early in the process

• Promote continuous improvement initiatives within the supplier base

• Act as a principal advisor to leadership regarding supply market trends, risks, and opportunities

• Mentor and develop sourcing team members; may have direct management responsibilities for a team

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline

• 10-15 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management

• Strong skills in negotiation and contract management

• Experience managing suppliers within a manufacturing or operational setting

• Demonstrated ability to analyze data and make informed, data-driven decisions

• Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and sourcing tools

• Excellent project management and organizational capabilities

• Experience with global sourcing and engagement with international suppliers
