Sterile Compounding Assessor, Casual, Two-Year Term

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Performing inspections of pharmacies focused on sterile compounding practices.

• Creating an effective assessment plan for sterile compounding, including efficient scheduling of evaluations.

• Collaborating with the Pharmacy Practice Consultant linked to each pharmacy being evaluated.

• Conducting assessments to guarantee compliance with relevant legislation and the standards set by the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

• Finalizing and delivering documentation related to sterile compounding assessments after each evaluation.

• Offering a comprehensive evaluation of compliance concerning the practice and operational standards of the pharmacies’ sterile compounding procedures.

• Contributing to ACP’s assessment methodology.

• Identifying and assessing potential sources that could compromise patient safety.

• Reporting pertinent incidents to the Professional Practice Director.

• Fostering a culture centered on patient safety and continuous quality improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Completion of a diploma in pharmacy technology.

• Eligibility for licensure with the Alberta College of Pharmacy on the pharmacy technician register.

• A minimum of five years of experience in sterile compounding within a pharmacy setting (hospital or community).

• Proven experience in a highly collaborative team environment.

• Current practice or knowledge of sterile compounding, with competencies maintained through relevant professional activities during the contract period.

• Awareness of current and emerging trends in sterile compounding, along with an understanding of Alberta’s pharmacy regulatory framework.

• A valid driver's license in Alberta and a satisfactory driving history.

• The following qualities will be viewed as advantageous:

• Experience in a supervisory or management capacity.

• Background in patient safety, quality assurance, root-cause analysis, as well as training and education.
