STEM Researcher – Computational Fields

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Create intricate, research-focused benchmark tasks inspired by authentic scientific workflows, encompassing study design, experimentation, hypothesis testing, and data analysis.

• Build thorough reference solutions utilizing Python, notebooks, and computational tools with the level of rigor expected in professional research.

• Establish precise evaluation criteria that differentiate sound scientific reasoning from plausible yet incorrect conclusions.

• Analyze AI-generated solutions by identifying methodological shortcomings, analytical mistakes, and flawed reasoning that experienced researchers would readily recognize.

• Work alongside AI researchers and fellow domain specialists to enhance the quality, consistency, and scientific integrity of benchmarks.

• Aid in the ongoing enhancement of evaluation methodologies for advanced AI systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent practical experience in a STEM discipline, computational social science, computational humanities, or another research-intensive area involving programming and data analysis.

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in an active research position within academia, industry, government laboratories, or a similar research setting.

• Proven experience in conducting computational research utilizing Python, data analysis, simulation, modeling, machine learning, or scientific computing.

• Strong comprehension of experimental design, hypothesis testing, statistical analysis, and the rigorous interpretation of research outcomes.

• Familiarity with Git, integrated development environments (IDEs), and notebook platforms like Jupyter or Google Colab.

• Experience in AI evaluation, benchmark creation, AI training, or task development is preferred.

• Exceptional analytical thinking, meticulous attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to independently tackle complex, open-ended challenges.

• Strong written communication abilities for documenting technical methodologies and research results.

• Capacity to commit around 35 hours per week consistently.
