Staff Visual Product Designer – Design Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Define and enhance Vanta’s visual design language across various product surfaces.

• Set a high standard for visual craftsmanship, encompassing typography, color, layout, iconography, illustration, motion, data visualization, and interaction details.

• Collaborate with Design Systems, Product, Engineering, Research, Content Design, and Brand teams to develop system-level solutions.

• Manage and advance design tokens, component visual states, responsive behaviors, theming, density, and platform-specific adaptations.

• Create reusable patterns and guidelines to ensure consistent execution across product teams.

• Design and prototype system components and comprehensive product experiences.

• Provide visual clarity and hierarchy in complex, data-rich security and compliance workflows.

• Work closely with engineers to ensure fidelity, accessibility, performance, and maintainability.

• Establish principles, standards, and review practices to uphold product design quality.

• Advocate for inclusive and accessible visual design.

• Define design-system support for AI-driven experiences, personalization, automation, and enterprise workflows.

• Utilize customer insights, product data, usability feedback, and competitive research to enhance the system.

• Facilitate critiques, workshops, and cross-functional reviews.

• Influence product strategy and roadmap decisions through design perspectives, narratives, prototypes, and viewpoints.

• Mentor product designers and contribute to the design-craft culture.

• Develop documentation, examples, and enablement materials.

• Define and measure the impact of the design system through adoption, consistency, accessibility, usability, delivery efficiency, and customer outcomes.

• Represent Design Systems in planning, product reviews, and cross-functional forums.

• Share best practices to enhance the visual quality of Vanta’s products.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in designing digital products, particularly in visual product design for complex B2B SaaS or enterprise software.

• Profound expertise in visual design for digital products, covering typography, color, composition, layout, iconography, illustration, motion, interaction states, and data visualization.

• A strong portfolio showcasing exceptional visual craftsmanship, thoughtful systems thinking, and the ability to enhance product experiences at both component and end-to-end workflow levels.

• Experience in creating, evolving, and scaling product design systems utilized by multiple teams.

• Comprehensive understanding of design tokens, component architecture, responsive design, accessibility, and the relationship between design tools and front-end implementation.

• Proven ability to transform ambiguous product and customer challenges into clear, elegant, reusable visual solutions.

• Experience working closely with engineers to translate detailed visual designs into practical implementations.

• Strong product thinking that considers customer needs, business goals, technical constraints, product surfaces, and workflows.

• Excellent communication, storytelling, and facilitation skills; capacity to influence without formal authority.

• Experience in balancing consistency and flexibility within design systems.

• Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, mentor peers, and elevate quality standards.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity while balancing strategic thinking with a proactive approach.

• Experience in cybersecurity, compliance, GRC, IT, infrastructure, financial services, or other complex and regulated domains is an advantage.

• Familiarity with Figma and understanding of front-end technologies or design system implementation workflows is a plus.

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Must have authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.

• Responsible for safeguarding Vanta and customer data.
