Staff UX Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Establish high standards for design excellence through the creation of prototypes and premium designs.

• Oversee project delivery across various assignments, translating complex, large-scale challenges into clear strategies and documented resolutions.

• Utilize systems thinking by developing information architecture, user flows, and system maps across diverse products.

• Foster relationships with Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams.

• Represent UX in discussions with senior leadership.

• Promote standards and best practices in AI-assisted discovery and exploration.

• Advocate for the Wagepoint design system by contributing components and guiding its governance and implementation.

• Play a role in shaping product strategy and vision, identifying opportunities, and questioning assumptions.

• Define and refine UX team standards, patterns, workflows, and tools.

• Lead team maturity initiatives and assist in managing DesignOps efforts.

• Champion UX, accessibility, data-driven decisions, and efficient UX processes.

• Mentor designers through constructive feedback, design evaluations, and professional growth.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in UX or product design, preferably in a SaaS or product-driven setting.

• A robust portfolio demonstrating design expertise for complex data, multi-step forms, and UX in high-trust environments.

• Proven ability to generate impact on high-priority, large-scale, and cross-team projects.

• Excellent communication, storytelling, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in navigating uncertainty, taking initiative, and proactively addressing challenges.

• Skilled in facilitating workshops, planning projects, and estimating UX tasks.

• Background in contributing to or overseeing a corporate design system.

• A collaborative spirit and a passion for mentorship and cross-functional collaboration.

• Mastery of Figma, including its variables, components, and libraries.

• Significant experience with Claude, Cursor, V0, Figma Make, and similar AI tools.

• Experience in designing for complex regulated environments, such as payroll and fintech, is advantageous.

• Strong skills in motion, illustration, and visual design are considered a plus.
