Staff Software Engineer, Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of cloud cost efficiency from start to finish by promoting FinOps initiatives that enhance cost visibility, accountability, and ongoing reductions in unit costs as we grow.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship, particularly in fostering the FinOps mindset throughout the Engineering team.

• Design, implement, and oversee scalable cloud-based infrastructure utilizing Kubernetes, Pub/Sub, and other relevant technologies.

• Work collaboratively with our AI team to optimize data pipelines and seamlessly integrate AI technologies to eliminate performance bottlenecks.

• Refactor current systems to improve scalability, which includes transforming stateful components into stateless ones and applying comprehensive autoscaling and auto-repair mechanisms.

• Lead platform reliability efforts, focusing on improving alerting, health checks, and incident management processes.

• Ensure the platform adheres to strict testing and security standards to uphold data integrity and security.

• Participate in an on-call rotation to fulfill service level agreements (SLAs).

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven track record in leading FinOps or cloud cost-optimization projects, including establishing cost governance, fostering cross-functional adoption, and delivering measurable savings at scale.

• Strong software engineering capabilities, with proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Ruby.

• Extensive system administration experience, including fluency in Linux, networking, and bash scripting.

• Proficient in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Familiarity with cloud tools and distributed systems, such as Kubernetes, Kafka, Postgres, and Elasticsearch, or similar technologies.

• Ability to design and implement scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience in addressing scaling challenges and resource contention within distributed systems.

• Expertise in cloud data security.
