Staff Software Engineer, Observability

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain the essential platform for managing Reddit’s infrastructure.

• Implement software solutions that enhance availability, scalability, latency, and the efficiency of observability components.

• Provide insights on the technical and strategic trajectory of eventing at Reddit.

• Automate vital elements of the event-driven development workflow.

• Participate in shared on-call duties.

• Contribute modifications to the open-source projects utilized by the team.

• Engage with monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing domains.

• Construct and refine systems utilizing Prometheus, Thanos, Vector, ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry, and Grafana.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in developing internet-scale software, ideally in infrastructure.

• Understanding of distributed systems development.

• Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana, Vector, ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry, and Loki is advantageous.

• Experience in development on Kubernetes or similar distributed systems.

• Experience in Kubernetes controller or operator development is a significant advantage.

• Strong troubleshooting skills across various systems and software.

• Experience in engineering large systems, managing tasks, and independently leading projects.

• Outstanding communication abilities for effective collaboration within a service-oriented team and organization.
