This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Collaborate with the Sr. Director, Foundations to establish and steer the technical vision and strategy for the Foundations group.
• Take the lead on architectural decisions regarding EMR integrations, caching infrastructure, shared services, APIs, data models, and integration patterns.
• Act as a technical escalation resource and perform design reviews focusing on reliability, performance, and security.
• Champion SLOs, capacity planning, incident-ready designs, and improvements in systemic reliability.
• Manage high-priority, technically demanding projects and take ownership of intricate multi-team initiatives from start to finish.
• Develop application-performance strategies while minimizing external API dependencies.
• Create, maintain, monitor, and enhance caching infrastructure.
• Set best practices for product engineering teams on the platform.
• Construct shared libraries, SDKs, and internal APIs to boost developer productivity.
• Produce documentation, examples, and guidelines for platform services.
• Offer technical support during integration efforts with product teams.
• Integrate unit, functional, and contract testing along with automated checks.
• Implement consistent Mixpanel analytics for feature instrumentation.
• Collaborate with Product and Data teams on dashboards and monitoring that reflect user and clinical outcomes.
• Lead post-incident reviews and implement systemic improvements.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through design guidance, pairing, and code reviews.
• Define and maintain engineering standards, architectural patterns, and documentation practices.
• Exemplify a pragmatic, product-focused mindset that balances high standards with iterative delivery.
• Approximately 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial senior/staff individual-contributor experience in building production product experiences.
• Proven history of owning and delivering multi-team projects within modern web stacks.
• Experience collaborating closely with product and design teams on user-facing features.
• Capability to guide technical decisions in uncertain domains and articulate trade-offs.
• Strong full-stack expertise, encompassing API and data-model design, UI development, monitoring, and metrics.
• In-depth knowledge of at least one cloud provider and infrastructure-as-code.
• Robust systems-design instincts concerning reliability, performance, security, and cost.
• Excellent debugging and incident-response skills, including proficiency in logs, traces, and data analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to lead by influence across teams and partnerships.
• Comfortable engaging cross-functionally with clinicians, operations, and research teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Passion for mentoring and developing fellow engineers.
• Experience in healthcare, digital health, or regulated domains such as HIPAA, PHI, or SOC 2 is advantageous.
• Familiarity with EHRs, wearable integrations, or health-data platforms is a plus.
